SmsForwarder (“the App”) is an SMS forwarding tool that runs on the user’s local Android device. This Privacy Policy explains how the App collects, uses, stores, and processes information.

1. Information Collection and Use

SMS Content (RECEIVE_SMS / SEND_SMS)

SmsForwarder uses SMS permissions to listen for incoming SMS messages and, when configured by the user, forward SMS content through user-defined delivery channels such as Telegram, Email, or SMS.

SMS content is processed locally on the user’s device. The developer does not receive, collect, store, or back up SMS content. SMS content is sent only to the destination channels configured by the user.

SIM Card Information (READ_PHONE_STATE)

SmsForwarder may read SIM card information on the channel editing screen so the user can choose which SIM card or subscription should be used for SMS delivery. This may include slot information, carrier name, display name, and phone number when available from the device.

SIM card information is read and displayed locally in the App. It is not uploaded to any developer-operated server, shared with third parties, or written anywhere except as part of configuration explicitly saved by the user.

Network Access (INTERNET / ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE)

SmsForwarder uses network access to send forwarded messages to network-based channels configured by the user, such as Telegram Bot API endpoints or SMTP servers for Email delivery.

Network requests are sent only to the target services configured by the user. The developer cannot access those requests.

Notifications and Background Operation

SmsForwarder uses the following Android capabilities to support reliable background forwarding:

  • POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Shows foreground service notifications so the user knows the App is running.
  • FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC, and WAKE_LOCK: Help keep SMS monitoring active in the background.
  • RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: Allows the forwarding service to restart after device boot when enabled.
  • REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS: Requests exemption from battery optimization so the system is less likely to stop forwarding.

These capabilities do not involve developer-side collection of personal information.

2. Information Storage

  • User configuration, including forwarding rules, channel settings, and forwarding records, is stored locally on the user’s device.
  • SmsForwarder does not operate a developer server for collecting user data.
  • The developer cannot read, collect, or back up user data from the device.
  • Uninstalling the App removes the App’s local data according to Android’s standard app data behavior.

3. Information Sharing

  • SmsForwarder does not upload information to any developer-operated server.
  • SmsForwarder does not share user information with third parties.
  • SmsForwarder does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
  • Data destinations are controlled by the user through channel configuration. Users should review the privacy and security practices of any target channel they configure, such as Telegram, email providers, or SMS recipients.

4. Children’s Privacy

SmsForwarder is not designed for children under 13, and the App does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

5. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Changes will be published in this documentation site or in app release notes.
